Born again

Another song that speaks to me is "Born Again" by the Newsboys. I love to turn this song up and sing it out loud! Praise God I am born again!

God tells us in His Word we must be born again and He explained this to Nicodemus:

John 3:1-21

The New Birth

3 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”

10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

It is clear that we must be born again....a new life entered into by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! The only way to eternal life! After receiving Christ we walk in light not darkness which means to walk after godly things not the ways of the world!

So I hope you can rejoice with me this morning on being born again....Thank you Jesus!

Lead Me

My Pastor preached to us husbands Sunday night concerning our loving our wives like Christ loved the church and it brought to mind this song by Sanctus Real "Lead me":

Do we as husbands love our wives like Christ loved the church? I mean honestly? This is an area of our lives most of us need work on, God expects us to do as His Word says in this area.

Ephesians 5:25-28

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

A couple of things I want to point out here:

Christ loves the church, we are to love our wives even when they do wrong!
Christ gave Himself for the church, we are to give ourselves in total devotion to our wives.
Lean the Word and teach it to her so it will cleanse and sanctify her as well as yourself.
Love her as you do your ownself...wow this can be tough!

Our wives desire us to lead, it is our job as a man of God, the question is are you?

You loved me anyway

Have you ever you asked yourself, how can God love me? I know I sure have. A back-stabbing, lying, gossiping, sinner like myself. Well don't ask me why but Jesus does love me and you too. This song today is "You loved me anyway" by Sidewalk Prophets. One of my favorite songs!

Wow...that video is so powerful. So true. Read these verses from the song again:

I am the thorn in Your crown

But You love me anyway

I am the sweat from Your brow

But You love me anyway

I am the nail in Your wrist

But You love me anyway

I am Judas' kiss

But You love me anyway

Oh how this describes each one of us but the last line is the key! Jesus loves us anyway and will forgive us if we just ask. Thank Him now for His grace and mercy for HE IS WORTHY!

Romans 8:39

nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Ephesians 2:4

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

1 John 4:9

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

Psalm 25:8

Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.

Matthew 9:13

But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

This little light of mine

Another song that speaks to my heart is "This little light of mine" by Addison Road. Each day we have a responsibility to let our light shine before the world! We have the source of life....Jesus. Listen and worship this morning.

Matthew 5:14-16

14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Jesus tells us in these verses above we ARE the light of the world! We are to shine for HIM. We all need to ask ourselves this morning if we are shining for Him or are we hiding under a basket? In verse 16 Jesus doesn't give us an option, He tells us or commands us to let our light shine by doing good works in the name of Jesus thus we will glorify God! The best work of all is sharing the gospel, the story of Jesus to others.

So this morning is your light shining or is a little dim? You can change that....do it!

A MUST READ for all my family and friends!!!!!!

This is a long read...take your time! Stop and think! Come back if you can't read it all at once! I love each of you and hope you will take time to deal with your relationship with God. Please feel free to inbox me with any questions or help I can give!
*A note to those who are strong in your faith...I know this does not cover every area but this will get one moving in the right direction if they so chose!

May 21, 2012

Well life is passing by fast! Haha I guess that is better than the other choice huh? I have been wanting to talk to you about your faith for a long time. The right time just never seems to present itself, that is why I have chosen to write this letter to you. God has been laying you  on my heart for quit sometime. If what I say speaks to you great. If not just let it go in one ear and out the other. I just want to make sure each of you understands everything the Bible teaches about our relationship with God. I know this is a long read but take your time! Also, in writing, I will be able to take my time and cover everything-hopefully not leaving any base uncovered. I will use the Bible to make my points. So, here we go.

You both are good folks. I believe most of you would help anyone in need-which is good. But you must understand that in God's eyes none of us are good enough to get to heaven on our own goodness.

Romans 3:10-11
10 As it is written:

“There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
Romans 3:23
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
So as you can see on our own merits we are worthless before a Holy God, matter of fact God's word says we are like filthy rags before Him!

Isaiah 64:6
But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
So how do we get right with God? There is only one way which I know you guys already know....Jesus Christ. I want you to know though it takes more than just a head knowledge of Jesus it must be a relationship with Him. For God tells us in His Word that even the demons believe in Jesus:

James 2:19
You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!
There is nothing, as we have seen earlier, we can do to save ourselves. But God in His great love for us gave us, a free gift which is His Son Jesus. All we have to do is receive this free gift in our hearts!
Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
You see because of our sin against God we deserve death. Let me explain a little further. Way back at the beginning of time when Adam and Eve were created, they were in paradise. Everything was perfect. No sin = perfect life. Mankind was designed to live in perfect harmony with God forever. But when Satan tempted Adam and Eve in the garden, they sinned. It brought about two kinds of death...the first being spiritual. They now were separated from God because of their sin. It also brought about physical death. Now a time would come when they will die...they would have lived forever without sin. So through the old testament God had laws for them to live by that He gave to Moses....the ten commandments and the sacrificial system which man could not keep. God requires blood to cover sins and that is what the sacrificial system did. All these things are pointing the way for when Jesus would come and shed His blood once and for all for mankind. So because of our sin we have death...spiritual and physical, but God has provided Jesus to cover both for you and I....that is love! Would you give one of your kids for a sinner? NO! But God did. It does not matter the sin either. Mankind puts value on sin...thinking one sin is worse that another...but to a Holy God it does not matter...a lie is just as bad as murder. Hard for our human minds to understand that but it is the truth. Another verse to kind of sum up what I just said:
Romans 5:8
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Now there are some things that must be done to receive Christ. Check this verse out:
Romans 10:9
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
First we must admit to God we are a sinner. We all sin and we must humble ourselves before God and admit we are sinners. Then we must confess with our mouths and believe in our Jesus! There are some essentials we must believe about Jesus.
  1. Sinless son of God
  2. Born of a virgin
  3. Died on the cross for our sins
  4. Was buried in a tomb
  5. Resurrected on the third day
  6. Appeared to many to prove His ressurection
  7. Acsended back to heaven and is now preparing a place for us
  8. One day soon He will come back for His own
  9. Judgment day is coming, Jesus will judge and those who don't know Him will be sent to hell.
So my question for you is do you believe these things in your heart and have you confessed Jesus with your mouth? If you have you are saved! If you have not, now is the time! One thing to remember is these words from Jesus:
Matthew 7:21-24
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Very important to understand you can't fake out God....He knows our hearts!
Now when we receive Jesus as our Savior God tells us we should repent of our sins. Repent means confess our sins, be sorry for them, and turn away from them not to do them again.

Luke 13:3
I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

Acts 17:30
Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent

2 Corinthians 7:10
For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
I have to ask are you sorry for your sins? Have you turned away from you sin? Now this does not mean you will live a perfect life, from time to time you will sin again and you will have to confess your sin to God, and He will forgive you.
1 John 1:9
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Let me show you some things God says is sin. Don't pass over them lightly.
Romans 1:28-32
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
Galatians 5:19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
God also tells us to watch what we are putting into our heads and what is coming out of our mouths!

Romans 8:5
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

1 Timothy 6:5
useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.

Revelation 2:23
I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
So ask yourselves two questions...Am I putting into my mind the things of God? Think about TV and the Radio...are these things putting good, godly things into your mind or ungodly things?
Then ask yourself what is coming out of your mouth? Things that build people up or things that tear people down?
So we see the sin God wants out of our lives what are some good things God wants to see lived out in our lives as followers of Christ?
God's word uses the word fruits. These are works God expects to see from us as evidence of our faith.
Matthew 7:15-17 You Will Know Them by Their Fruits
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
This verse not only applies to those who are preaching God's Word falsely but also to those who think they are Christians but are not!
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Now it may take a little time to develop all of these fruits. But as a follower of Christ they should be evident in our lives! Look at each one closely...are they in your life daily? God makes it clear in His Word we are to be different than the world when we are followers of Him.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Romans 12:1-2 Living Sacrifices to God
12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
One last thing God makes clear in Word. If we love Him we will be a part of the church. When we accept Christ God has a purpose for us in the church, a place for us to serve.
1 Corinthians 12

Spiritual Gifts: Unity in Diversity
12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 2 You know that
you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
Unity and Diversity in One Body
12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For in fact the body is not one member but many.
15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? 18 But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. 19 And if they were all one member, where would the body be?
20 But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23 And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, 24 but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, 25 that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. 26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.
To sum all of that up....you have a place to serve in the church that Jesus built and died for! Are you? God makes it clear we are to be in church faithfully!
Hebrews 10:25

25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
The day approaching here is Jesus's return! It is coming soon!
I know I have covered a lot here. Please don't just skim over it. Pray over it, ask God to reveal to you if there are places you need to work on. As men we are to be the spiritual leaders of our houses, are you doing that. Getting your family to church, teaching them about God, being examples?
Ephesians 5:27-29
27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.

1 Peter 3:7
[ A Word to Husbands ] Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.
Deuteronomy 6:6-8
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
My brothers this letter comes with all the love I have. I should have written it a long, long time ago. Make sure you are right with God I beg of you. Eternity is a long time. We have the choice to follow God or not. You are without excuse and so am I before God. If you have any questions call me. I love you both and will always be here no matter what life may bring.

God has blessed your family greatly, let us make sure our lives are a blessing to Him!

Love Tom

Arise my love

I know Easter has passed but we should celebrate the resurrection day everyday! Jesus has defeated death and sin for us! This is one of my all time favorites. Worship the Lord this morning with this song "Arise my love" by Newsong. If you have never heard this....hold on to your seat!

WHEW! Praise Jesus! The grave could not hold our King! I can't wait to see Jesus face to face one day to thank Him for all He has done for me and you. We have nothing to fear in death, for Jesus has provided victory over it! I love the part of the song that quotes this scripture:

1 Corinthians 15:54-56

54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

55 “O Death, where is your sting?

O Hades, where is your victory?”

Nothing like mocking Satan as Christ has been victorious! My friends give the praise where it is do this morning, the only One who is worthy, JESUS!

Galatians 1:4

who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

Colossians 1:14

in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Hebrews 2:17

Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

Hebrews 9:28

so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

Hebrews 10:12

But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,

1 Peter 2:24

who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

How great is our God!

Let's start the week off praising our God as we continue our devotions on songs that speak to my heart. This song "How great is our God" is another by Chris Tomlin.

Wow what can one say? That song says it all. My God is the greatest! Worthy of my praise! Join me brothers and sisters in praising the King of kings and Lord of lords this day! It does the soul good!

Psalm 148:13

Let them praise the name of the LORD, For His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven.

Philippians 2:9

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

Revelation 11:17

saying: “We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.

My Baby girls first bass! I love you Kaylea!

I will rise.

Prepare yourself for worship this morning with our devotion. Chris Tomlin I believe will go down as the greatest hymn writer of our time. The song you will listen to this morning is "I will rise." This song makes me tingle all over..thank you Jesus for taking my sins upon the cross so I may one day rise of my knees to see you face to face.

Oh what a day that will be when we see Jesus. The Bible is clear every knee will bow before Him and confess Him Lord but only those who have accepted Him as Savior will be able to rise when He calls our name and hug His neck! Talk to Him. Spend eternity with Him. Worship Him in pure truth and sinlessness. Makes me want to shout!

So what about it my friend...will you be able ro rise before the King?

Philippians 2:9-11

9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Revelation 5:12

saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

1 Thessalonians 4:16

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

The motions

From the very first time I heard this song it spoke to me. I think about it often. Really listen to the lyrics. The song is call "The motions" by Matthew West. God doesn't want us just going through the motions of Christianity. It should be our drive, our life's passion to live for Jesus everyday. After all He gave His life on that old cruel cross not for His sins for He had none but for our sins. I have said this before but it is worth repeating...we were bought on that cross and no longer belong to ourselves but to Jesus. Do you live with that thought in mind? We have so much to do in this life and so little time. Friends, family, and neighbor to love and share the good news of Jesus. A life to live that reflects our relationship with Jesus. Think about it. So what about it....are you just going through the motions of life or are you living full throttle for Jesus?

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body[a] and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Romans 12:1 12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

1 Corinthians 8:6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

Lord help me to live for you with all I have everyday!

Lose my soul

The song for today's devotion is "Lose my soul" by Toby Mac. This is a pretty self-explanatory song. Is there anything is this world of ours worth losing our soul over. NO! Jesus has died for our sins and our lives now belong to Him. Are you living like hell or are living like Jesus. True life is found in serving Christ with all of our lives not just when we feel like it! Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 16:26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 1 Thessalonians 5:23 [ Blessing and Admonition ] Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. James 1:21 [ Doers—Not Hearers Only ] Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. Matthew 6:25-33 Do Not Worry 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Let God's Word speak! Tom

I can only imagine.

The devotional song for today, as I continue the series on songs that speak to my heart, has been around for several years now. Every time I hear it the song brings out many emotions and thoughts. First, heaven is a place we should long for. We were created to be with God and oh what a day that will be! Second, I can't wait to see loved ones who have passed on and have trusted in Christ as Savior. So sit back and worship as you listen to this song: "I can only imagine" by Mercy Me Many fear death but when we are in Christ we have nothing to fear but everything to look forward to! John 14:2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. Matthew 6:19-21 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 7:21 [ I Never Knew You ] “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33 32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. 2 Corinthians 5:1 [ Assurance of the Resurrection ] For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Ephesians 2:6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Philippians 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, Hebrews 11:16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. 1 Peter 1:3-5 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. Wow....I can only imagine! Tom

Give me your eyes.

This should be our mindset as we are in Christ! We get so busy in our day to day lives. Do we take time to notice others and try to minister to them? Jesus was busy to but He always had time to stop and talk or heal or proclaim the gospel. We as followers of Christ must learn to do this also. We are the only Christ people may see and God has given us all a ministry to serve Him. Don't miss the God-given opportunity to serve Him. Have the eyes of Christ to see others as He sees them! Notice how here Jesus is was on His way to one place but took time to help another...a great example for us! Matthew 9:18-25 A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed 18 While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” 19 And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. 20 And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, 21 for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.” 22 Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well. 23 And when Jesus came to the ruler's house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, 24 he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. 25 But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. Give me your eyes Jesus so I may serve others! Tom

Not Alone

Continuing with songs that speak to my heart devotions. The song today is "Not Alone" by Red. This song just speaks LOUD to me. It is so comforting to know Jesus is with me in all situations. I jotted down a few of the lyrics, listen for them: "I am with you", "I will carry you", I won't leave you", Your not alone", "I am here", "Love has a face", I don't know about you but those are Word I need to hear just about everyday! Listen to this song and enjoy! Well what did you think? I hope it spoke to you as it has me so many times. Thank you Jesus for ALWAYS being there in the good and the bad. I don't know what I would do without you! Matthew 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Isaiah 40:11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” John 16:32 Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. John 8:42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. Tom

What do I know of Holy?

As I continue on in writing devotions about song that speak to my heart, this song is one of my favorites. It wasn't that long ago that I did a devotion on this but I want to do it again. I have been in Michigan for a week visiting family, turkey hunting, and doing a little walleye fishing. Many times when I am out in God's creation I think about the holiness of God....I know so little about this great God and how Holy He really is...think about that when you listen to this song by Addison Road "What do I know of Holy": Wow that song is awesome. Do you realize this morning how Holy and awesome our God is? We will one day bow before Him. Remember in the Bible hoe Moses wanted to see God but all God could give him was a glimpse of His backside because to see the face of God would kill him. Think about the sun next time you see it rise and light the day. In heaven their will be no need of sun because the glory of God will be our light. I think about how little I am compared to God...nothing can really describe our Holy God. Exodus 33:17-23 17 And the Lord said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.” 18 Moses said, “Please show me your glory.” 19 And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’ And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.” 21 And the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock, 22 and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen.” Exodus 34:1-9 34 The Lord said to Moses, “Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. 2 Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain. 3 No one shall come up with you, and let no one be seen throughout all the mountain. Let no flocks or herds graze opposite that mountain.” 4 So Moses cut two tablets of stone like the first. And he rose early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand two tablets of stone. 5 The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. 6 The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, 7 keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation.” 8 And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped. 9 And he said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.” Revelation 21:23And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. Revelation 22:5 And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. So this morning...what do you know of Holy? Tom

In Better Hands

This morning I am getting ready to head to Nashville to fly to Michigan to do some turkey hunting and walleye fishing with my brother and dad as well as visit my mom and rest of the family. These days flying brings some anxiety! You never know if your pilot is going to freak out or if the plane will hold together or if a passenger is going to get out of hand. So as i was thinking about songs that speak to my heart this one by Natalie Grant came to mind, "In better hands". No matter what you are going through this morning if you have given your life to Jesus Christ you are in better hands. In life we have very little control over anything, but God does. This morning as I head to the airport and get on that plan I know without any hesitation I am in the hands of Jesus! So what do I have to fear? Nothing, nothing at all. This is the peace of mind that Jesus offers, the peace that is beyond our understanding. So my brothers and sisters won't you join me this morning in rejoicing over being in the hands of Christ, it don't get any better! Hebrews 1:10 And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; Tom
