Are you following Jesus? #19

We talked yesterday about the importance of knowing what the bible says. In the bible is the resurrection of Jesus. We just celebrated this fact last week end. The resurrection is of utmost importance to a follower of Jesus. With out the resurrection, Christianity is dead, thank God it is alive!



Look what the bible says here:



1 Corinthians 15:12-19



The Risen Christ, Our Hope

12 Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! 18 Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.



Can Paul make it any more clear than that? All of out faith hinges on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. We have no hope if this is not true. We live a lie if this is not true. We are going to hell if this is not true but thanks be to God the resurrection is true!



So what does it mean for us that believe Jesus did defeat death and sin by His resurrection? Then He is absolute authority! He is Lord and we must listen to everything He says! Trust His Word!



So as a follower of Jesus, is His Word the absolute authority in your life? Take a look at scripture and then examine yourself. It won't take long to figure the answer out!
