Seal of approval! Do you got it?

So many times I have seen in life where folks are look for approval from others. As I have grown older I have learned when it gets down to it there is only ONE whose approval we need.....Gods! You see when death comes we won't be looking our friends, boss, co-workers, family or anyone else in the face for their approval but we will stand before God for His approval....think on that today! So how do we get God's approval? Check these verses out:

2 Corinthians 1:21-22

21 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, 22 and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

We get our approval through Jesus Christ. So really it is by nothing we have done but all what Jesus did on that old rugged cross. Dying for our sins....wow. It is that simple. Once we receive that free gift then we live the rest of our lives for Him, that is proof that we have made Him Lord of our life. Not only does God approve of us because of Jesus's blood covering us but He also puts a seal on us. That seal ensures that nothing can take away His approval of us for eternity. Now we can still sin but we will know it and be convicted by the Holy Spirit and repent of it. Once we are sealed we are sealed for good!! Praise God! Jesus died for all our sins, past, present, and future! DO NOT take advantage of God's grace and think well I guess I can do what ever I want then and sin willingly. That is a a clear sign you were never saved to begin with for the saint desires not to sin and does all he can to avoid it!

I love the ending to this verse "and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee"! Oh brothers and sisters that should bring joy to your heart this morning. God has given the saints the Holy Spirit to dwell in their hearts as a guarantee of being sealed in Jesus Christ! Whooooo hooooo! Thank you God! When you give your life to Jesus you immediately receive the Holy Spirit and that guarantee!

So are you sealed this morning? Do you have God's approval? You can just call on Jesus this morning! Who cares about the worlds approval for in the end it will mean nothing!

Always working for the Lord!

Here is a profitable verse for us this morning:

1 Corinthians 15:58

58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

4 things to catch here:

1. Be steadfast: which means in a fixed direction. So we need to be moving closer and closer to Jesus and His teachings. Are you steadfast?

2. Immovable: which means you can't be moved from what you believe. No one can move your faith in Jesus Christ and the importance of the gospel. Are you immovable?

3. Always abounding in the work of the Lord: which means you are doing the Lords work in great quantity. Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples, are you? A command not an option.

4. Knowing your work in the Lord in not in vain: which means everything you do for the Lord counts!!! It is of great value. More value you than gold or silver! It lasts for eternity. Are you doing a great work for the Lord?

I pray this morning we are doing all 4 of these to the glory of our Father in heaven. If you are a follower of Jesus these are not options but teachings we are to follow.

Keep the faith and keep working for the Lord!

Ultimate victory is coming!

This day is coming soon....are you ready?

1 Corinthians 15:53-57

53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

“Death is swallowed up in victory.”55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”

56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the resurrection of the saints when Jesus comes to take us home we will shed our perishable bodies and put on our immortal bodies. I sure am looking forward to that day....how about you? The older I get the more I look forward to it as this body bears the marks of a sin.

We seem to think death is a bad thing but if you are a follower of Jesus Christ it is victory! Death has no hold on us because Jesus conquered death 2000 years ago for believers!!! However if you are not a follower of Jesus then death is a horrible thing. As you will spend eternity in hell. Hell will not be a party as so many seem to think, it will be an eternity away from God, loneliness, pain, and suffering. It will never end, all because you rejected Jesus the son of God. Don't make that mistake. Give your life to Jesus today!

Oh my Lord come quickly and may we serve you daily to reach out to the lost. We look forward to spending eternity in heaven with you! That new body will just be a bonus!!!!

How do you come to God?

These verses made me do some thinking this morning, I hope they do the same for you:

Luke 18:10-14

10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

So when you come to God each day, how do you come to Him? Are we like the Pharisee who thinks he has everything in order? Or are we like the tax collector who comes knowing he is a sinner who is in need of God's grace and mercy?

Now I know that when we have given our lives to Jesus we can come to God with boldness and love like a child to a father but we also need to have a heart that is reminded often of who we are coming to....God. The One who deserves to pour out His wrath upon us but because of His love, He sent His Son Jesus to take the wrath for us and shed His blood upon that cross for our sins!

Humbleness is a often mentioned word in the bible. God desires His servants to be humble before Him. He despises pride. We have nothing to be prideful about in our lives because it all comes from God not us! Look at these verses:

Psalm 25:9 He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.

Psalm 147:6 The Lord lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground.

Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.

Matthew 18:4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 23:12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

James 4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,Wow!

So once again I ask how are you coming to God and how are you living your life? Are you proud or are you humble?

Godly example

Our church had a celebration this weekend. Our Pastor Mark Warren's mother Clarice Warren passed away. So we celebrated her life. What a godly example she was to so many. The funeral home was packed. What stood out to me was the many stories of how she shared the gospel. When new folks moved in the neighborhood she would go over to their house and share Jesus with them! When is the last time you done that? I heard two stories from folks who came in to give their sympathies to the family that they would not know Jesus if it had not been for Clarice! Wow! What a testimony to this godly woman. Her current Pastor shared about how he comes into church on Sunday morning and Clarice will be at the altar praying for her pastor, her son as he pastors, and pastors all over the world as they share God's word. She was known as a prayer warrior meaning she spent lots of time praying for others.

So I say all that to say this, what kind of legacy are you leaving behind. Some day all of us will meet death unless Jesus comes first. What will people have to say about you? Are you a prayer warrior? Have you shared the gospel to others so they can have eternal life in heaven? Do you have a love for people like Clarice? Here are a couple of scriptures to think about:

Hebrews 13:7

Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.

3 John 1:11 Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.

1 John 4:8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray without ceasing

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

All these remind me of Clarice and I pray at the end of our lives the same things can be said about us!

Are you a servant to all?

Short and sweet today. Read this verse:

1 Corinthians 9:19

19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.

In the fist part of this verse Paul is saying he has taken care of himself in the ministry although he teaches the church has an obligation to take care of the ministers of the gospel. When He says free from all he is basically saying he don't owe anybody anything.

In the middle part of the verse Paul is telling us he is a servant to all people...Jews and gentiles. This is a clear teaching for each of us to serve all people...rich or poor, imprisoned or free, white, black, yellow or brown, no matter their religion. We are to serve others!

In the last part of the verse Paul tells us why we serve, to win more to Jesus! Folks that is our main responsibility as a follower of Jesus Christ. It is not even an option....Jesus said GO! Make disciples of all nations!

Are you doing this? No excuses! Be a servant to all to win folks to Jesus and keep them from an eternity in hell. God loves each person and has provided salvation to all!

Here I am!

Alright, so the last two days we have looked at Isaiah and his realization that he is a lost as he declared that in a woe. Then we seen that God atoned for his sin. Now today we want to look at what Isaiah did after his sin was atoned for:

Isaiah 6:8

8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

God said I need servants. Who will go serve Me? Isaiah had just been saved and immediately volunteered! He shouted "here I am!". I am right here Lord and willing. "Send me"!!! I want to go. Can you detect the enthusiasm? I sure can. This is an example for all of us. Once we get right with God through Jesus, we immediately need to start serving God. The number one thing God wants us to do is share His love and His Son with others. Are you doing that. God desires that all come to repentance and faith in Jesus:

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

I want you to notice one other thing here...did you catch "who will go for us"? The us here is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We need all three to do God's Work, and you get all three when you follow Jesus as Lord!!

Are you ready to serve God? Have you said send me? If you love God this should be a given! Go love and tell people about Jesus!

Your sin atoned for.

Yesterday we seen through Isaiah our woe in life. We are lost without God and deep in sin. Today I want us to see what God did for Isaiah:

Isaiah 6:6-7

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

God atoned for the sin of Isaiah! This is a picture of what Jesus has done for us. we realize as we seen yesterday we are sinners, we repent of that sin (which means turning away from sin), and then we accept Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives because he has paid the price for sins! I love what is says above as it also is true for us..."your guilt is taken away"! Being a sinner and knowing Jesus had to die on that cross for my sins makes me feel terribly guilty but God's Word says the guilt is taken away. The only one who makes you feel guily after you have given your life to Jesus is the devil...so don't let him do that! You are free!!!!

God is so good to us. Count your blessings and give God the glory! Tomorrow we will see what Isaiah did after being freed from sin which is an example of what we are to do too!

Woe is me.

This is a place we all must get to in life to eventually end up right with God:

Isaiah 6:5

5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”

Isaiah came to the conclusion in life, he was lost. Every person must come to this conclusion to then get right before a holy God. When we realize who God is.....holy, righteous, King, Lord, and perfect, then we can realize who we are unholy, unrighteous, bad, evil, sinners. Woe is me!!! We also can look around just like Isaiah and see we live among people who are just like us! They must also realize who they are before God.

Have you come to the place in life where you can say Woe is me? Take a look at who God is and it won't take you long to get to that place! Tomorrow we will see a what happened to Isaiah to get right with God!

Live life as you are assigned.

I am a firm believer that God is in control of our lives even when we don't think so. He can allow things to happen to us both good and bad. God blesses us with the good and will allow bad things to happen to us many times to get our attention back where it belongs....on Him! With that said read this verse:

1 Corinthians 7:17

17 Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches.

God gives you the parents you have, the family you have, the friends you have, the school you go to, the church you go to, your decision to follow Him, the person you will marry, the job you will have and the list goes on and on. One of they keys to all this is to be in prayer to be on the same page with God. For example God has just the right person in mind for you to marry (if you are to marry). But you can get ahead of God and decide that somebody else is whom you need to marry and thus that marriage will not be all it is supposed to be.

You see God is in control. He knows whats best for us and has a plan for each persons life so it can be lived to the fullest. Of course the first piece of that plan is to become a follower of Jesus. Until that's done the life God has for you can not really begin. After you have given your life to Christ, God expects a life of obedience in all areas of life. So everything we do should be taken before the Lord and we should receive answers before we make decisions. This is how we live a life that God has assigned to us. Too many times though we want to play God with our own lives and when things don't go right we want to blame God. This is our fault not His! Many times what God wants us to do is written in His Word. He has already given us answers to many of the things in life there. The problem there is many don't know what their bible says so how can they obey that?

My friends the ultimate life is to live by God's plan not ours. Peace and joy do not come by our own will but by the will of God. Until we learn this, life can not be lived to he fullest! Remember these words:

Matthew 6:33

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Let God run your life, things are much better that way!

Most Dangerous words in the bible.

These perhaps are the most dangerous words of the bible:

Genesis 3:1

3 Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?”

"Did God really say"? These words of the devil himself brought about sin which brought separation between man and God. Those same words are still used by the devil and sadly people are still questioning God's Word. Here are a few examples:

Did God really say Jesus is the only way to heaven?

Did God really say believers should not forsake assembling together?

Did God really say homosexuality is sin?

Did God say we have to forgive others? Even our enemies.

Did God say we are to give our stuff away and help others?

Did God say what He has brought together in marriage not to separate?

Did God really say as a believer I am to share Jesus and make disciples?

Did God really say I am to serve in the church?

The list can go on and on. The sad part of this is everything above God did say but many believers and non-believers choose to ignore it and not obey. It is a very dangerous thing not to obey our God.

As the bible says, the devil is crafty. If he can get you to question God or just ignore God, he is a happy camper. Folks don't get caught in his trap. God's Word is just that HIS Word...learn it, don't question it, and obey it for He knows best!

Think about this today!

Lawsuits in public court are wrong!

Well let's tackle another tough one today. In case you haven't noticed our court systems are backed up big time. For Christians we should not be in public courts for most matters! Look at what God says in his Word:

1 Corinthians 6:1-8

Lawsuits Against Believers

6 When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! 4 So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? 5 I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, 6 but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers? 7 To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? 8 But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even your own brothers!

Not to difficult to understand is it? God says we should take care of our problems among the saints! I wonder when the last time this was practiced? Can you imagine how this would go in the church today? God says here why take a problem to unbelievers, as they will not answer according to His standards. Then God goes onto ask do we not have wise enough people in our church to settle disputes. I believe we do, but you know what would happen? The one who lost would have a problem with it. That is where as believers we have to say a decision has been made by God's Word and that is where we stand.

Paul then goes on to say that having lawsuits is wrong in itself! That as a believer we are to take loss if that's what it takes. Wow! Our selfishness can't have that now can we? Paul implies suffer wrong if need be! How can he say that? Here is why....

Romans 12:19

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

1 Peter 3:9

9 Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.

Romans 12:17

17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.

This is a very tough teaching from the Lord. First, we are to settle disputes ourselves. If we are wronged so be it because the Lord will take care of it in the end. Second, if we must have the dispute settled then we are to take it to the church and let it be settled there. Why is the church not doing this?

Something to chew on!

Christians are to judge in the church!

I figure this post will create quit a stir but let me say don't argue with me, it is God's Word you will be arguing with! I read this the other day and wow as usual God spoke to me about some things and I want to share them with you. Now clear your mind of all preconceived ideas and just let the Word speak. Are you ready? Ok here we go:

Sexual Immorality Defiles the Church

5 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father's wife. 2 And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.

3 For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. 4 When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, 5 you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.

6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? 13 God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”

Wow! pretty harsh huh? Let point out several thins here:

1. Sexual immorality was taking place here. In the case pointed out it was a type of incest. Man having sex with a step-mom. Other sexual immorality that would be included in this would be homosexuality, and adultery.

2. Paul was telling them not to celebrate this sinner but to remove them from the church! Huh? Well what if the man says he loved his step-mom as we here today as an excuse to continue in sin??? No remove them from the church.

3. V.5 is important. Remove the man from the church, let Satan have him. What? The reason for this is so the man will come to senses and repent! So his Spirit may be saved!

4. V.6-8 tell us to get him out so his sin, which apparently they were boasting about, would not sub off on others and defile a big part of the church. God wanted them in sincerity and truth not evil and sin!

5. V. 9-10 tell us Paul is talking to the church not the world! Judge inside church not the lost world.

6. V. 11 expands the sins wider than just sexual immorality....greed, idolatry, reviler, drunkard, and swindler. Ouch that covers much there! Not only are they to be removed from the church but God says not to even eat with them! This again is to help them see the error of their ways. Tough love huh?

7. Then in verses 12-13 God says He is judge of lost world we are to judge those in the church. The lost world does not know better, the church knows what sin is and should live obedient lives!

Now let me say this, God's Word has more to say on this issue so do some studying for example:

Galatians 6:1

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. We must love our brothers and sisters in Christ and help them when they stray but at some point is sin removal from the church may be needed and the church must judge other brothers and sisters!

Chew on that today....I have been for several days!

God wants Unity!

It is unbelievable how much division there is among believers. This is something Paul wrote to the Corinthian Church about and we need to take notice!

1 Corinthians 1:10

10 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

It baffles me as to why there is so much argument over what the bible says. Most of it is pretty clear. I guess when we have man sticking their two cents worth in there will always be problems. Why can't we just take God's Word for what it says and believe it as truth?

We have so much work to do as the church. Souls are dying and going to hell everyday. I read yesterday that every two seconds somebody dies. As of yesterday around 10:30 a.m. 12,000 people have already died in this world of ours in 2014. Think about how many of those did not know Jesus as Lord and Savior. Guess whose job it is to reach the lost....the churches! We have be come somewhat useless because the lost see that the church can't get along so why do they want to be a part of that! This should not be so!

Now think to inside your own church. How are things? I hope great! If not it needs to be fixed and quick. Your church won't be effective for the kingdom if their is quarreling or division among you. Get it fixed! In love and humility come to a resolution.

The church (believers) is to a representation of Jesus to a lost and dying world. Love, compassion, humility, and unity are all apart of being like Jesus. Loving sinners and trying to help them repent of their sin and come to Jesus is what our main focus is to be, all else is really no importance!

So lets get together as believers. Quit all the divisions and lets get busy for the Lord. If we are busy for the Lord we won't have time for the divisions!

Not as I will, but as you will.

Jesus is coming to the conclusion of what He came to earth for, to die for our sin. Being a man He desired a different way to save mankind if there could be one. There was not so Jesus said not what I want God but what you want:

Matthew 26:39

39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”

This is the example from our Savior that we are to follow. When He died on that cross for our sin, and then we choose to give our lives to Him and follow Him, we are then His! Bought with the price of His blood:

1 Corinthians 6:20

for you were bought with a price.

So glorify God in your body. What does all that mean? Jesus owns us! We are willingly His slaves! Thus we do not do what we want, we do what He wants us to do even to death! Are you willing? It may be the cost of following Jesus? Or it may be as simple as telling your co-worker about Jesus. Are you willing? He was willing to die for you!

Oh Lord help me today and everyday to do your will, not mine.

Watch out!

This is a great word from scripture that we all need to be very careful to observe:

Romans 16:17

17 I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.

Paul is telling us here to be on the watch as followers of Christ. Be on the watch for what?

1. People who cause divisions. There are folks who just want to split the church. Always stirring up trouble for no reason. It isn't that they are bringing up scriptural problems, they are just causing a stir constantly.

2. People who do things contrary to the Word of God. Anyone who is teaching or leading in ways that are differing from the Word of God need to be removed from the fellowship if they do not change their ways when pointed out. Sounds harsh but we can not have folks who are going in opposite of what God says plain and simple.

Paul warns...avoid them! If they are in out midst then we have to remove them until they repent and turn in obedience to the Word. Let me give a caution here. Many folks are big in following folks on TV which can be good or can be bad. Know your bible! If they say things contrary to the Word...turn it off! If they stay faithful to the doctrine then by all means worship with them. Again you will only know if you know your bible!

So watch out!

Bear with the weak!

Well I pray everyone is staying warm this morning with this bitterly cold weather! Be safe and careful!

Today the verse that I want to look at speaks loudly to me. I sometimes am a little tough on the weak in their faith and have much to learn on helping them instead of the tough love approach. Here is the verse:

Romans 15:1

15 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

We are to bear with those who are weak in their faith and lovingly help restore them:

Galatians 6:1

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

It is easy for us to point out sins to others and forget we have our own sins to deal with! Hopefully we are dealing with our own sin daily. At the same time we have a responsibility to help others grow in their faith. The world tries to teach we need to accept sin which is not biblical, we must stand against sin but love the sinner as we are sinners also and must keep that in mind.

So I am challenging you this morning to do all you can to help the weak in their faith. Love them to Jesus. But do not compromise on sin being sin. Remember we all are at different places in our walk with God. The point is to keep drawing close and to help others do the same!

Something to never forget!

All of us need to memorize this verse and think on it often:

Romans 14:12

12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

This should be motivation to live a godly life! Things like how we treat people, how we live our lives, what has priority in our life, the words that come out of our mouth, what we do with God's money, how we treat God's body which has been bought with the blood of Christ if you are a follower, ect. All of these things and more will be on our account when we stand before God one day.

So that brings us to this, is your life in a place right now where you are ready to give an account to God? If yes, Great! If no, there is no better time than right now to get your life in line with what God desires for you!

Think on this over the weekend.

New Year....put on Jesus!

The new year has started. Many have made resolutions of all sorts. This scripture below is something all followers need to make sure is a part of their life this year and all years to follow:

Romans 13:14

14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

For a follower of Christ it should be obvious that you have put on Christ and are different than the rest of the world. What I want all of us to concentrate on is the making no provision for the flesh. Sin is to be out the door! I have never understood how folks can claim to be followers but yet still choose to sin willingly. Something is majorly wrong, even to the point where we have to question if they have even been saved or not. Things such as getting drunk, high, sex outside marriage, stealing, cheating, lying, hoarding, gluttony, gossip ect. are all sin. They all deep down satisfy something in our flesh. When we put on Jesus we have the power to overcome all of these, the question is o we love our Savior enough to let Him have all of these things?

So lets get serious in our faith. Give all of your life to Jesus and gratify Him not ourselves!
