Craft project to share God's love 6-30-16

Remember God will avenge His children!



As His children we are to share the gospel and love others, when they trouble us or hurt us or even kill us, God tells us here it is not for us to worry about He will take care of it!

2 Thessalonians 1:2-10 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, 4 so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, 5 which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; 6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, 7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.

Be about the Father’s business brothers and sisters, He will handle everything else in due time! Remember though our desire should not be destruction of our enemies though but of them coming to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ!

Proof of eternal life!



Read this verse in a devotion this morning: 1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.

Wow! Now make sure you get the order right. Faith in Jesus Christ is what gives eternal life. Then proof of that faith is loving others especially brothers and sisters in Christ. If you don’t love others then that is a sign of a heart problem with God for He is love and demonstrated love to us and expects us to love others! 

So do have proof you are in Christ? Love for others is that proof! Chew on that today!

No reason to panic! 6-24-16

Children are a blessing!



Sometimes our children drive us nuts but it is very important we remember this verse from the Word of God:

Psalm 127:3-5 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

When God blesses us with children may we take the job of raising them seriously and train them up in the Lord as He has told us too:

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

So are you taking your blessing seriously or are you wasting your blessing the non-sense of the worldly things?

The only thing we need.



God reveals to us the only thing we need in this verse:

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Jesus! If you follow Jesus He is all you truly need. Be content brothers and sisters in that fact! Everything else is a blessing from God! Chew on that for a while today!

What do others see?



Simple lesson for us today. Read this verse:

Colossians 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

What do others see in you? You or a representation of Jesus? If we follow Jesus they should see Jesus. If we do not follow Jesus then they see us living like the world. Hmmmm 

What are others seeing? More importantly what is God seeing?

We sin! Confess it!

Do you want a whoopin?



Remember when your dad used to say “you are asking for a whooping”? Meaning you were being disobedient and correction would be coming soon if you did not straighten up immediately! It seems many do this same thing with God but do not take his warnings from His Word and thus receive correction and don’t even realize it is from God! Look at this verse:

Hebrews 12:6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”

Straight from God’s word. Many believers and many who claim to be believers but there is no evidence disobey God’s word on a regular basis and then wonder why problems arise in life often. I believe it is God’s chastisement and I have been on the receiving end myself many times! Folks habitually forsake church, don’t tithe, don’t read the bible, don’t pray, don’t serve, choose to watch sinful tv shows or movies, choose to listen to sinful music, don’t give to the needy, lead their children to forsake God for sports or other activities, don’t forgive others, and the list goes on and on. God has given us His Word to help us live the abundant life by following Him. Then when troubling times come our way we don’t even recognize it is God trying to get our attention and return to Him! It is horrible to get a spanking and not even realize what it is for!

For those who say well I don’t have troubles come upon me. That coulee be great! You may be being greatly obedient to God! Praise the Lord! However it could also be that you may think you are a believer but have never truly surrendered your life to Jesus thus since you are not a child of His, He has no reason to discipline you. That is a scary place to be! Repent and get right my friend!

So look for those whooping, pray and find out where you are disobeying, correct and strive for perfection and the abundant life!

Championships!

Whats in your heart?



A verse to chew on for today:

1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

We can fool many people by what we do that can be seen by them. But we can not fool God who looks at our heart. God know us inside and out. He knows what we are thinking and what we will do now and in the future. Knowing this we must look at ourselves and ask...am I playing a game with my life or am I being real? What is in my heart?

God desires Himself to be on our heart for that is pure and perfect. We tend to chose selfishly and place in our heart what we think will please us. What we must learn is the only thing that will truly satisfy out hearts is God Himself. That is why Jesus said this:

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The best life, the abundant life can only be found in Jesus. Is Jesus in your heart this day or something else?

My treasure is Jesus, the one who gave all for me! How about you?

Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
