Goals for 23?

 What are your spiritual goals for 2023? Here are a few things to consider:

1. If Jesus is not your Lord and Savior that is the most important task for you in 2023!!!

2. Bible reading and learning. If you have never read your bible all the way through do it this year! If you have make sure you are in habit of reading some everyday!

3. Prayer-make it a priority to spend quality time with God....allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as well as you speaking to God.

4. Loving others---God tells us this is the second greatest commandment. True followers of Jesus make this a practice in their life yes even those who are hard to love!

5. Give! You have been blessed by God so bless others with what God has blessed you with! Many are in need and some just want to know somebody cares about them!

6. Make church a priority, We need brothers and sisters in Christ and the Word of God preached to us!

7. Share the gospel!!! This is of great importance as we see the return of Jesus approaching!!! Remember without Jesus hell is the destination.

If you can do these 7 things you will have a blessed new year in the Lord!

 I read this on a tweet and though it was good enough to share with you:

7 things still true in 2022: 1. God is still sovereign. 2. Christ is still reigning. 3. The Spirit is still interceding. 4. The church is still essential. 5. Satan is still deceiving. 6. The gospel is still saving. 7. Glory is still coming!

These will still be true in 23! Keep the faith and share the gospel!!!

Just chew on this one today. Short and simple. One day we will all give an account of ourselves to God. Are you ready to do so today? The only way one can be ready is to know Jesus as Lord and Savior of their life!!!

Word became flesh

 John 1:14

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus who is the Word was born and we behold Him as The Savior of the world. The Son of God and we glorify Him who is full of grace and truth. Oh how beautiful He is to bring us this truth as The Word....our guide book for life. 

As we celebrate Christmas take time to think about Jesus as the Word and all that He has brought to us through the bible. Behold His glory in His Word!

Worship and gifts

 Matthew 2:11

11 And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

As we see here they Jesus was found and they worshipped and gave gifts. So here are a couple questions to us:

1. Have you found Jesus?

2. Have you worshipped Jesus as your Savior?

3. What gifts do you give Jesus? Your tithe, your time, your service, or the honor of giving others the gospel??

Let us worship and give to Jesus for He alone is worthy!

Gifts from GOD.

 “Children are a gift from the Lord;

they are a reward from him.” Psalm 127:3

Children are gifts from the Lord and oh what a blessing they are!!! The baby Jesus was the greatest gift God has ever given us as He would go on to be the sacrifice for our sins giving us the opportunity for eternal life by placing our faith in Him!!

Praise the Lord for babies they are gifts from God and praise Him for baby Jesus our Savior!!!

Born to save

 Matthew 1:21

21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

As we head to Christmas let us dwell on the fact that Jesus was born on this earth to save us from our sins!!! Without His birth we would forever be lost and bound for hell! Thank Lord Jesus for sacrificing yourself for us!!!

Prepare the way.

 This is said of John the Baptist:

Matthew 3:3

3 For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying:

“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make His paths straight.’ ”

So what are we to do? We are to prepare the way for The Lord's second coming as this time He will not be coming to save but to judge those who reject Him! So we are to share the gospel so others may repent and put their faith in Jesus!

Are we preparing the way????

Can you and I say this verse and mean it? It should be what we strive for each day! To seek God and stay true to His Word. May we be obedient children of God!!!

We all need to check ourselves from time to time to see if we are loving the Lord with all we have as He is worthy of every ounce of love we can give Him!!!

Remember we are to be different than the world. Don't conform to their ways but conform to the word of God. Keeping our minds focused on Jesus and obeying His word. So we may do what God has in mind for us to do like share the gospel and love others!!!

Walk in Him

 Colossians 2:6

6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,

those of us who have put our faith in Jesus are to walk in Him which means we are to live our lives like Jesus lived His. That is a high calling for us and it takes work to do this but we can do it! We may fail from time to time but we confess that failure up and continue to walk as Jesus walked!

Let us walk in Him always!!!

 So rejoice in the LORD and be glad, all you who obey Him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure! -Psalm 32:11

Are you shouting for joy over Jesus??? You should be for He loves you and has done everything needed for you and I to spend eternity with Him in heaven! He died on the cross for you!!! Be glad in Him and obey His word for we are pure only by Him!!!!

Rejoice today and everyday in Jesus!!!

We are to be thankful that when we become children of God we receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken! Nothing can overcome the kingdom of God! He will never be defeated!!! Praise the Lord!!!

Have you submitted?

 James 4:7

7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

The key to our walk with Jesus is total submission. When we submit to God and are doing His will the devil flees!!! When we are not submitted to doing the will of God and are doing the will of ourselves we open the door for the devil to get in!!!

Let us stay submitted to Jesus!!!!

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Our God is so good to us that when we have a hope it is not just praying for something to happen it has happened in that our Hope of a Savior has happened and done everything needed for our salvation!!! Oh what a God we serve!! Jesus is alive and well after defeating death and sin for us!!! We have a living HOPE!!! Jesus! Praise the Lord!

As followers of Jesus we are to read the bible, learn the bible, obey the bible, and do what the bible says. Are you doing what the bible says or just listening. The bible says our faith is dead if we are not doing what the bible says...things like loving others and sharing the gospel!!!

 2 Timothy 1:12

12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

No matter if life is going great or difficulties are upon us we must always rest upon in Whom we believe....JESUS!!! He has done all that needs to be done to deliver us from death and sin. If we have put our faith in Him then we can rest assured that we will soon be in eternity with Him!!! Praise the Lord!!!

Give thanks for Jesus for He is the ONE in whom we believe!

What is the message to you?

 1 Corinthians 1:18

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Is the message of the cross foolishness to you? Do you not believe that Jesus is the Savior of the world? According to the bible you are a fool if you believe this way!

If you believe that the cross that shed the blood of Christ for your sins and Christ is your Savior then you are wise and saved for an eternity in heaven with God!!!

What you do with the message of the cross have eternal consequences think wisely!!!

Only Jesus!

 Acts 4:12

12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Only ONE name that can save a man's soul....Jesus! We need to know this for ourselves and also let others know. Jesus is the only way to be saved and spend an eternity in heaven with Him!

Today let us remember that our words have consequences. We can build someone up and give them life in their bones or we can tear somebody down and give them death in their mind. Let us be encourager of our faith and lift folks to Jesus and pray for others!!! Be kind and give loving words like our Lord Jesus did when He was on this earth!!!

No arbiter!

 “For God is not a man, as I am, that I might answer him,

God is God. He made us and desires us to have a relationship with Him but He has Holy standards that we must comply with through Jesus Christ. He is Boss and Judge! What He says goes! Their is no one else to go to if we think have a complaint!!! Obey His Word and live the blessed life!!!

Sometimes we all need to be reminded of the verse above with all the craziness going on in the world and in our lives! God in in control and as a follower of Jesus all this is all I need to know and keep my faith in!!!

God tells us here that a sign we are saved is that we love our brothers and sisters in Christ. Remember they are not perfect like ourselves and make mistakes but the have been forgiven by God by the blood of Jesus like us and we must forgive as we have been forgiven if wronged!

So do you have love for all your brothers and sisters in Christ???

I full heartedly agree with Job.....Jesus my Redeemer lives! He has defeated death and sin upon the cross for me so I can live for eternity with Him in heaven! Praise Jesus!!!

One day soon Jesus will stand upon this Earth as He returns and all will bow and fecognize Him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords!!!

How is your temple?

 1 Corinthians 6:19

19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

Think about this verse. Your body has God dwelling inside it if you are a follower of Jesus. How is your temple? Are you keeping your temple clean and Holy? Is it a place God is happy to dwell in? Is it being used for His glory? These are questions we need to think about and if changes need to be made to honor God then let's do it!!!!

 Jeremiah 16:17

17 For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity hidden from My eyes.

Luke 12:2-3

2 For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. 3 Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

We need to be reminded from time to time that God knows all!!!! Nothing said or done can be hid from Him. Thus our ways in life should always be done to glorify Him and when we make a mistake confess it up and be forgiven.

God is God and knows all never forget that!

Don't try to please everyone. Jesus never did.

Note to self!!! Jesus was more interested in loving the outsider than being like by people in power. How about  you?

Where do you want to go?

 “Jesus said to the twelve, ‘Do you want to go away as well?’ Simon Peter answered him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.’” John 6:67–68

We all have to ask ourselves this question as well. Do we want to follow Jesus or go away? He alone holds the key to eternity in heaven but some would rather have what the world has to offer. May we all have the desire to follow Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Think on this today....are we truly following Jesus or the world?

Psalm 143:8

IF you were going to entrust your life to anyone wouldn't it be God who made you? That is what He desires of us to trust Him with His great plan of salvation and His will for our lives. He loves us and will show us everything we need to know to glorify Him and reap the blessings He wants to give to us.

Entrust your life to Him!!! You will not regret it!!

Breath!

I came across this and wanted to share it with you as I thought it was a needed reminder!!!

3 reasons you can take a deep breath this week—

1. "What is impossible with man is possible with God." (Luke 18:27)

2. "...the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you."(Deut. 31:6) 

3. "God is faithful..." (1 Cor. 1:9) 

Just breath God has everything under control for you!!!

Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before Him, singing with joy. - Psalm 100:2 

This verse is not something we should just do on Sunday at church, it should be a part of our daily life. Worshipping God with gladness and singing His praises because we love Him and appreciate everything He has done and will do for us!!!

 Psalm 33:18

Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,

On those who hope in His mercy,

I pray this is you this morning as I will say for me it is a firm yes!!! I fear the Lord as He is all powerful and will judge sin but I also love God and know He loves me as He has shown me mercy through His Son Jesus Christ! OH what an awesome God we have!!!

Is God's eye on you this morning??.....I pray it is!

Cast out?

 John 6:37

37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

Most places you work can cast you out for whatever reason they want. A place you eat can ask you to leave if you are disruptive. A teacher can kick you out of class for various reasons. But guess what? If you come to Jesus with your sinful condition He will take you in and never cast you out!!! He has paid for your sins, loves you, and just wants you to put your faith in Him and follow Him. Who in the world would refuse that and to know you have eternal life on top of all that! Praise the Lord!!!! Thank you Jesus for not casting me out!

Rest

 Matthew 11:28-30

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

I don't know about you but I need some rest! Good news! Jesus offers that rest in two ways. First, as we labor for Him and live this life for Him He provides the rest we need, Especially the rest of being secure in Him. Then He also gives us the rest for our souls when eternity roles around for His followers. The key point is to know His as your personal Lord and Savior for without Him you will find no rest here or in eternity!

Thank you Lord for rest!

Joy of the Lord

 Nehemiah 8:10

10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Do you take time to enjoy God? You should after all He has provided everything we need in life. I like reading this verse...eat and drink what God has blessed you with....bless somebody else who has not been blessed like you....live every day as a holy day to God....don't sorrow but have joy in the Lord for He is our strength!!! Without Him we are weak!

Thank you Lord for you are the TRUE joy in life!!!
