Practical word!

It is awesome how practical God's Word is:

Proverbs 14:17a

17a A quick-tempered man acts foolishly,

Here God tells us something we all have done....got mad at someone quickly and done something we should not have! So what do we do? Be on guard of that behavior. When we get upset over something, slow down and think it through. Then do what Jesus would do in that situation. This should help us from acting foolishly like violence or saying something we wish we had not!

God's Word is practical for everyday use....so use it for His glory!

Everything commanded

Remember these Words from Jesus before He went back to heaven:

Matthew 28:20

20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
What I want you to catch this morning from this verse is "observe all thing I have commanded you". I believe all of God's words to us where He is telling us something to do or not to do is a command. So Jesus here is telling us to observe and obey all the things He commanded us as He heads back to heaven. It is for our benefit and His glory that we do what our Lord says. Also we must know WHAT He said so we better be reading our bibles!!!
Everything Jesus commanded is important, let us be sure we are doing those things!

God's love satisfies.

The best way to start the day is to know that God does the following:

Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

When I wake up every morning I need to remind myself God loves me and His love never fails. Knowing that satisfies me! What more can I ask for than a God who loves me????
I then can live out the rest of my day in song, joy, and peace because God has me in His hand. What else could make one more glad than that? Nothing! Only God truly satisfies every part of our soul!
Come to God and give your life to Jesus and find out for yourself. You will not be disappointed!!!

Kobe and others.

Yesterday I was saddened to hear that Kobe Bryant and several others lost their lives in a helicopter accident including his thirteen year old daughter. Kobe was an exceptional basketball player. When news channels learned of his death it was all over the news and social media. It got me to thinking about all the other people who died yesterday but nothing was said about them. Statistics say about 150,000 others died yesterday but we said nothing about them and to God they are just as important!

God says in His word:

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Every person, every soul is important to God and that is why He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sin. We need to be reminded often that there is only ONE way to heaven and that is Jesus.

I pray that Kobe and the 150,000 others that died yesterday knew Jesus and spend eternity in heaven if not then they spend eternity in hell. This is why it is so important we spread the gospel!!!

Everyone is important to God, let us never forget that!

Stay on Jesus!

A friend of mine shared this and I thought it was worth sharing with you!

finishing the the last sentence...steadied with the truth instead of overrun with the thoughts of fear, anxiety, and worse-case scenarios.

Himself!

Read this verse:

Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Don't miss the point in this verse. Delight yourself in the Lord! Go all in and get to know and enjoy a personal relationship with the Lord. Get to know Him deeply!
Then the promise comes....He shall give you the desire s of your heart. What would be the biggest desire of one's heart who truly love the Lord? More of Himself!!!! Yes, the biggest desire of a follower of Jesus is more Jesus! He will give that to those who delight themselves in Him. What more can we ask for????
 Chew on that today!!!

All of us!

One who lacks wisdom is all of us!

James 1:5 New King James Version (NKJV)

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
None of us are God. All of us lack His wisdom. So what are we to do? Ask God. He gives us the wisdom we need. He has given us the Bible where we can obtain His wisdom as it is His Word. So get it and read it and spend time in prayer so He can fill you with His wisdom!!!

On MLK Day let us remember...

On MLK Day let us remember what the bible says:

Matthew 7:12

12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Treat others as you want to be treated! Better yet treat others as Jesus would treat others and you will not go wrong!
Love one another and give yourself for them....for that is what Jesus did!

You are a child of God!

A little reminder for those who have put their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior:

Galatians 3:26

26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
You are a son or daughter of God! How? By your faith in Jesus! That's it! Only one way to be a child of God....through Jesus. Oh but how comforting it is for the saved to know that we are God's child!!! Just like any good parent....God takes care of His children!
Think about how awesome this is.....I am a child of God! Our Father is God!!! WoW! We are blessed beyond belief!

Thankful for mercy.

I am so thankful for the mercy of God. I deserve hell for I am a filthy sinner. But God in His great love showed me mercy through His Son Jesus!!! Thank you Lord! However, let us remember what the Word of God says:

Matthew 5:7

Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.

As those who have been blessed by mercy of God, we are to be merciful to others! Give mercy like God gives mercy to others! Through love. For when we are merciful to others we obtain mercy ourselves.

Are you merciful to others? God let's us know we should be!

One way to live a godly life.

According to God there is only one way to live a godly life:

Psalm 119:9

How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word.

To live a godly life one must read, learn, and obey the Word of God. There is no other way. God calls us to be holy, so let us be holy and live our lives according to the bible!

Are you reading your bible daily???

NONE!

We need to ask ourselves:

Exodus 15:11

11 “Who is like You, O Lord, among the [a]gods?
Who is like You, glorious in holiness,
Fearful in praises, doing wonders?

The answer??? NONE!!! There is none like God!!! God stands alone above all! Yet He loves us and gave His only Son for us so we can be with Him for eternity! Who does that? Only God!

Praise God this Day for He alone is worthy! Glorious! Holy! Praise the Lord!

Always there!

God spoke this to Israel:

Isaiah 46:4

Even to your old age, am He,
And even to gray hairs I will carry you!
I have made, and I will bear;
Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Even though this is to Israel, He does the same for all His children. Those who trust in His name and give Him their heart!

1. He is with us even when we are old. He carries us! He evn takes us to be with Him in heaven! What more can we ask???

2. God has made us, He bared the cross for us. He bares our burdens. Oh what a mighty god we have!

3. Again He caries us through all the trials and tribulations in life, and delivers us from the trials and tribulations even sin!

Praise the Lord! He sure is good to those that believe!!!

Nothing to fear!

Last night Iran attacked some military bases in Iraq. Many folks are scared about what is going on which is understandable if one does not know Jesus! For they do not have a good future BUT for the child of God we have nothing to fear because we trust God and know He is in control. He has a plan for His own....eternity with Him!!!

2 Timothy 1:7 New King James Version (NKJV)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
The follower of Jesus should have:
1. No fear! God is with us!
2. God has all the power!
3. God is love!
4. God gives us a sound mind so keep it focused on Him and what He has done for us and continue to serve Him as He has called us to do. Whatever happens is under His control!!!
Nothing to fear brothers and sisters....we are in the hands of God!

Another day!

You woke up! God has blessed you with another day!!!

Psalm 118:24

24 This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

May we all make the most of the day God has given us. Share the gospel, love others, and glorify the Lord in everything we say and do!
God made this day....use it for all it's worth!

Get problem solved!

We get angry sometimes. That is part of life. BUT we need to solve the problem before we go to bed.

Ephesians 4:26

26 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
Two things we are told about our anger here:
1. Control your self! When you are angry...do not sin. Do not hit someone and do not say things that hurt someone like calling them names. Self control is a fruit of the spirit, let God control your actions!
2. Solve your problem. Before you go to bed solve whatever caused the anger issue. Get with the person and talk it out!
Problems come but we can work them out and be faithful followers of the Lord! Solve them problems and glorify the Lord!

In Him...

There is much to be learned from this verse:

Ephesians 1:7

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
1. In Him....in Jesus. completely surrendered to Jesus as Lord and Savior of one's life.
2. Redemption from the word redeemed. Jesus bought us back from sin with His own body and blood on the cross.
3. His blood....the only way we could be saved from sin...perfect blood of Jesus.
4. Forgiveness of sins...only by the blood of Jesus.
5. Riches of His grace...we don't deserve salvation or forgiveness but God is rich in grace!!! He loves us and shows us mercy. Don't ever forget that!
All these benefits are only available...IN HIM and only IN HIM!!! Are you in Jesus?

Praise everyday!

As you walk into this new year 2020 make it your priority to praise the Lord everyday! Intentionally praise Him and also obey His Word. He deserves all we can give Him!!!

Revelation 4:11

11 “You are worthy, [a]O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they [b]exist and were created.”

How much did you praise God last year? Make it a goal of yours to beat that 100x. It is such a blessing to be able to praise, honor, and glorify our Lord! He died for our sins!!!
Thank you Lord for all your many blessings. We love you and praise you with all we have and all we are. May we be a blessing to you with the way we live our lives and obey your Word!

Our goal for 2020...

As followers of Jesus our goal for 2020 and every year should be this...

1 Corinthians 6:20

20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Glorify God!!!! Everything we say and do should bring glory to the One whom gave it all for our sin. He is worthy and deserving of all our glory. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! He is Lord! He is Savior! He is God! All glory to Him!!!!
So let's be faithful to Him and share the gospel with the lost so more can bring Him glory!
Have a blessed 2020 my brothers and sisters!
