How long do you pray?

 Luke 6:12

12 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Reading the bible and also reading many books about brothers and sisters in the past they spent much time in prayer with God. It seems in our microwave society where we want everything done fast prayer time has been shrunk in a mighty way. Prayer is talking to God and God desires time spent talking with His children. We must make it a priority to spend more time in prayer. As we have seen Jesus sometimes spent all night praying. If it was important to Him it must be with us as well.

How much time do you spend in prayer?

MIGHTY

 Psalm 93:4

The Lord on high is mightier
Than the noise of many waters,
Than the mighty waves of the sea.

I hope you have had the opportunity to be on a beach by the ocean on a windy day when the waves are crashing on the shore. It is so loud you can hardly hear when someone right next to you is talking. If you have been in the ocean and have been hit by a big wave you know the power they have as it knocked you to the floor!!! Now when we think about God we need to remember God is all -powerful! He is mightier than these ocean waves and in fact is mightier than a nuclear bomb. We all need to keep this in mind! He is God!!!! He deserves all honor and glory and respect! But even in His power He is also love and loves you more than anyone!

Thank you Lord for loving us even in your great power!!!

Came to save!

“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:17)

God loves us. He sent Jesus to save us through faith in Jesus. This is proof of His love for us! Now the first time Jesus came to save but the next time He comes it will be to judge the world for rejecting Him. We must be covered by His shed blood to stand before God and if one chooses to reject Him then He will be rejected by God and sent to hell. That is not God's desire as He wants all to be saved!!!! Receive the free gift of salvation today for that is why Jesus came...to save you!!!!

Know and do!

 Ephesians 5:17

17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

As followers of Jesus this verse is very important. Look closely as what is is saying!

1. Be wise!

2. Know the will of God. How? Read the bible and prayer. Listen to the Holy Spirit.

3. Then do it!

As servants of the Lord we are to do the will of God in our lives like share the gospel, love others, help meet needs, and glorify the Lord in all areas of our lives!

No excuses....know and do the will of Jesus!!!

Comfort!

"In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul." Psalm 94:19

We are having a heat wave in my neck of the woods in Tennessee. I sure am glad my AC is bringing comfort to our family. In our world today there are many things that cause anxieties in our life like economy, bills, family issues, and sin. Thankfully we have a God who loves us and because He loves us He brings us comfort through HIs Word and through prayer. Oh how He has comforted me overe and over. I do not know how folks make it in this world without Jesus leading their lives!

So when those anxieties come, take comfort in the Lord for He loves you and will handle the situation as He sees fit so trust Him!

Told your friends about Jesus?

Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.

Mark 5:19

Once we become followers of Jesus we become servants of the Lord! One of those jobs is to share the gospel with others. A good place to start with that is with our friends. If we truly love them then we must share the gospel with them for eternity in heaven or hell is on the line. Even those whom you have a good idea will reject Jesus you must still try to lead them to Jesus for it is the most important decision in life!

So have you told all your friends about Jesus? Time to start!

Where to go during these hard times!

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28

With the economy tanking and prices sky high on everything where do we go? We go to Jesus!! He is with us and will meet the needs we have to get us through. He tells in the above verse when we have burdens come to Him and He will give us the rest we need!!! I am so thankful for Jesus!!! Turn everything over to Him as we have control over nothing but He is in control of all!

Praise the Lord!!!!!

Are you?

 Psalm 113:3

From the rising of the sun to its going down

The Lord’s name is to be praised.

For the follower of Jesus we should not have to be told that we need to praise the Lord....right? As the bible tells us all day long His name is to be praised for the Lord has been so good to us!

So are you consistently giving praise to the Lord throughout the day? If not start today!!!

How is your walk?

 Copied from another post!

Walk properly” (Rom. 13:13). “Walk by faith” (2 Cor. 5:7). “Walk by the Spirit” (Gal. 5:16). “Walk in love” (Eph. 5:2). “Walk in the light” (Eph. 5:8). “Walk worthy” (Col. 1:10). “Walk in Christ” (Col. 2:6). Believers never have to guess how to live the Christian life.

So how is your walk with the Lord?

Eases my mind!

With all the craziness going on in the world today....wars, economy, drugs, lack of respect,  murder, no thought of God, and I could keep going for some time. I rely on this verse to ease my mind:

“In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Jesus has won the victory over the world, thus those who put their faith in Him have the victory as well. This side fo heaven is not our home! One day soon we will be where we belong in Heaven with God!

Keep that in mind in the craziness of this world!

Think on this!

 1 John 3:1

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

"Behold" it says! think long and hard on the love God has placed upon us! So much love that we can be called the children of God like Jesus! Wow! To be called a child of God though one must put their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior of their life! Then as you live your life for Jesus the world does not know you because you are an imitator of Jesus and they do not know Him and HIs holy ways!

Chew on this today!

Control

"A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare." -Proverbs 15:1

as we study the life of Jesus there are many times He could have answered harshly to those who persecuted Him as well as to his disciples out of frustration with them. BUT He did not. He was always under control and answered in reply out of love and concern. This how we must do as well.

May we all be gentle instead of harsh like you our Lord Jesus!

Bearing and forgiving

 Colossians 3:13

13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

We need to be reminded from time to time of what Jesus does and has done for us. He bears with us even though we continue to sin after forgiveness. He is our example. We are to bear with each other with our faults! When we are wronged we must forgive as Jesus forgives us. It is not an option as you see the bible says "you also must do".

So let us bear and forgive one another through the power of the Holy Spirit for on our own strength we can not do it!

What will last after you are gone?

 Psalm 71:18

So even to old age and gray hair,

O God, do not forsake me,

until I proclaim your might to another generation,

your power to all those to come.

What legacy will you leave behind? The greatest thing to leave behind is those you have led to Jesus and given the Word of God to so that they have the chance to come to Jesus. How much of God will you leave to others by your example and the words that come from your mouth?

This one life will soon be past,

Only what's done for Christ will last.

What has thou given for me?

As I was doing some studying yesterday I came across this and it spoke to me so I wanted to pass it along.

When only a young lady, Frances Ridley Harvergal saw a picture of the crucified Christ with the caption under it: "I did this for thee, What has thou done for Me?" Quickly she wrote a poem, but she was dissatisfied with it and threw it into the fireplace. The paper came out unharmed! Later, at her father's suggestion, she published the poem, and today we sing it.

I gave My life for thee,

My precious blood I shed;

That thou might ransomed be,

And quickened from the dead.

I gave, I gave, my life for thee,

What has thou given for Me?

A good question! Think about it today.

New self

 Ephesians 4:24

24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

When you put your faith in Jesus and repent of your sins you are to put on your new self. That means your old ways of the world are now being set behind you and you walk in your new life of following Jesus. In this verse it also tells us that our new self is created in the likeness of God....true righteousness and holiness. So we can look to Jesus and follow His example in the scriptures of how our new self is to conduct itself!

So take a moment and ask is your new self acting like Jesus? It should be....all the time!!!!

Need this reminder

Every once in awhile in this crazy sin filled world we live in we need to be reminded of this:

Jesus said, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

1. In this world we will have problems!

2. In Jesus we have peace!

3. Jesus has overcome the world and one day will gather those who follow Him to our peaceful home which is heaven!

Praise the Lord for the peace only found in Jesus!

Praying for you!

I seen this and wanted to share it with you as I thought it was so good! I did not come up with this just passing it along. Jesus cares about you and prays for you as a follower of Him!

There is nothing sweeter to the Christian than knowing Jesus is interceding for us. 1. He prays for our protection (Jn 17:15). 2. He prays for our unity (Jn 17:20–23). 3. He prays for grace in time of need (Heb 4:16). 4. He prays for our recovery from sin (1 Jn 2:1).

Thankful for my Savior who prays for me!
