Reject long enough...no longer be saved!

In our revival services last week another set of verse was pointed out to us that I want to share this morning. Read them very closely:

John 12:35-40

35 Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them.

37 But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, 38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke:

“Lord, who has believed our report?

And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:

40 “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts,

Lest they should see with their eyes,

Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,

So that I should heal them.”

Basically what these verses are saying is that Jesus reveals himself to us many times. If we continue to reject Him, there may come a time when He blinds us and we will no longer have the ability to be healed of our sin(saved). Wow! Think about that for a while. This same thought is taught in quenching the Holy Spirit:

Acts 7:51-52

51 “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. 52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers,

1 Thessalonians 5:19

19 Do not quench the Spirit.

Matthew 12:32

Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Mark 3:29

but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”

Quench means resist, what this is saying is if you continue to deny the Holy Spirit eventually you will not be able to hear him at all thus you will not hear the call of God to be saved.

It is very important that we listen to the helper God sent sent to us which is the Holy Spirit. It would be a terrible thing to keep putting off the call of God and get to the point where He would not call us anymore to be saved!

Something to chew on this Monday morning!
