Think your wise?

If one thinks they are wise in this world of ours, God's Word has news for them!



1 Corinthians 3:18-20

18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; 20 and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”



I have found it very interesting that the smarter the person the harder it seems to be for them to accept Jesus. Have you ever noticed that? I think when a person is very smart they know it and humility becomes very hard for them. When one is very smart God tells us in these verses you must become a fool to become wise. What that means is we must admit we are sinners! Who wants to admit that? The one who realizes we are nothing before the Almighty God and the only hope we have is in Jesus who takes away the sins of the world. God goes on to tell us in these verses that what the world counts as wisdom is foolishness to God! For the wise get caught up in their own wisdom and forget about God! Until we become fools and turn to Jesus, all our ways are futile!



So let me ask you this morning, are you wise or are you a fool? Be careful how you answer! I am a fool and I know it!
