Heart #7

It is unbelievable how many times in the bible we are warned about worshipping idols and false gods. Why do you think that is? Be cause God knows are hearts are bent towards this so He keeps warning us so we might just get it through our thick heads! Look at these verses:

Deuteronomy 11:16
16 “Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them,

Joshua 24:23
23 “Now therefore,” he said, “put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord God of Israel.”

Leviticus 19:4
4 ‘Do not turn to idols, nor make for yourselves molded gods: I am the Lord your God.

1 Chronicles 16:26
26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
But the Lord made the heavens.

1 Corinthians 12:2
2 You know that[a] you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led.

2 Corinthians 6:16
16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”

1 John 5:21
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

So do you think God wants us to stay away from idols and false gods? Yeah me too. It all comes down to the heart again...love God or love something else to take His place on the throne of our hearts. Keep Jesus on the throne!!!!
